Posthumanism for the Anthropocene

15.01.2021

15 January 2021, 9:00 - 11:15am

Hannes Bergthaller & Eva Horn

Workshop for PhDs & Advanced Masters Students

Hosted by the Graduate School of Humanities, University of Würzburg (Germany).

Eva Horn and Hannes Bergthaller define the Anthropocene not only as a crisis, but also as “an interruption” that indicates an “ecological threshold” and “gives a name to the insight that humans are profoundly changing the ecology of the planet” (1-2).

In this workshop for PhD candidates and advanced Masters students, Horn and Bergthaller come together to expand upon foundational propositions formulated in The Anthropocene: Key Issues for the Humanities (Routledge 2019) by exploring the critical intersection of theories of posthumanism and the Anthropocene.

The emergent Environmental Humanities class of the Graduate School of Humanities is delighted to welcome this critical conversation.
